Fume fans sitting high in Ports of Auckland
Bill Henshall, Supervisor of Civil works approached Geoff Ebdon from NZ Duct+Flex seeking advice as to how they could further improve extraction in the service sheds when the straddles were being serviced. The fleet are mostly low emission, low noise diesel electric models which can also provide back up power generation to the Port ensuring that refrigerated cargo is always protected.
Adaptable solution 16m up in air
The solution provided by NZ Duct+Flex includes 4 retractable hose reels with bespoke nozzles and specialist fans to deal with the exhaust fumes from the top of the straddles to capture these at the right height. The reels are attached to the steel roof perlins, 16 metres up.
As NZ Duct+Flex are the largest stockist of modular duct and flex, all other components required for the install are held in stock, including the specialist Garage grade flex – a TPE coated Polyester crush recoverable flex from Germany. The flex is wound on the reel for easy retraction with an inherent spring loaded mechanism. The air is driven by a 7kW fan which can be sited directly on the reel.
Bill Henshall is pleased with the install carried out by NZ Duct+Flex engineering team.
